About Pigeon Forge

Pigeon Forge is a Parkway town at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. Dollywood, theaters and family attractions draw visitors, while the Old Mill and Little Pigeon River give the center a quieter side.

The Parkway is the main road, running north to south. Hotels near The Island and LeConte Center have restaurants and attractions close by. Farther north, Music Road is handy for the Titanic Museum and WonderWorks. The strip is long, so check a hotel’s exact address before assuming a walk between attractions.

Near the southern end of town, the working Old Mill and its shops sit by the river. Patriot Park has the Pigeon Forge trolley station. Stay here for Old Mill meals and easy trolley trips. Driving is still quicker for stops spread far apart.

Dollywood lies east of the Parkway off Veterans Boulevard. Dollywood's own lodgings are closest for park days, but a Parkway hotel is not automatically walkable to the entrance. Cabins toward Wears Valley have more space and a mountain setting, but you'll drive to restaurants and shows.

Pigeon Forge is also a gateway to Gatlinburg and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The road through town can get busy, and park routes change with weather and maintenance. Check the National Park Service’s current road status before a mountain day.

Questions about Pigeon Forge

Is a cheaper Pigeon Forge room always the better deal?

No. Look at the total and the route to your main stop. A room near The Island saves evening drives, and a Dollywood-area stay makes repeated park days simpler.

Should I choose a hotel off the Parkway for a better price?

Maybe. Side-street hotels can be worth a look, but check how you will reach the Parkway, Dollywood and the trolley.

What extra costs should I check?

Look at parking, resort fees and the cancellation terms on the exact room. A lower headline rate can cost more after those charges.
