Menorca stretches from Maó’s deep eastern harbor to Ciutadella’s old streets in the west. South-coast resorts sit by sandy coves. The north has quieter, rockier shorelines.
Maó has a long harbor, markets and lanes around the old center. It is the closest town to Menorca Airport and a practical base for a short stay without a car.
Ciutadella’s arcaded Plaça des Born and cathedral are on the opposite side of the island. Ferries use its port, and nearby Cala en Bosch and Cala Blanca are resort choices for beach days.
Son Bou has a long sandy beach, while Cala Galdana sits in a sheltered bay with walking access toward Cala Macarella. The Camí de Cavalls circles the coast, but many coves have no direct bus from a resort.
The ME-1 road links Maó and Ciutadella through Alaior, Es Mercadal and Ferreries. Pick your coast before booking, because crossing the island for each beach day takes time. Catalan and Spanish are official languages.
