Ischia is a whole island, not a single beach town. Ischia Porto is easiest for ferry arrivals. Forio faces the sunset and Citara beach. Sant’Angelo and Maronti are on the quieter south coast. Pick the town before you pick the room.
Ferries from Naples reach Ischia Porto, Casamicciola or Forio. Ischia Porto has the main bus terminal, and the old lanes of Ischia Ponte lead toward Castello Aragonese. A room by the port suits a short stay, but it is busy when boats arrive.
Forio stretches along the west coast. The white Chiesa del Soccorso stands above the water, and Citara has a beach and the Poseidon thermal gardens. Lacco Ameno has San Montano bay and Negombo. Casamicciola, next door, has its own ferry port and a thermal-spa tradition.
On the south coast, Sant’Angelo is a compact pedestrian village beside a rocky islet, and Maronti is a long beach below Barano. Both take longer to reach from the ferry and the airport. For a late arrival, check the last bus or arrange a transfer first.
EAV circular buses link the island’s towns, but summer traffic slows them. June to August are the driest months in the Ischia climate table, and November has the most rainy days. In the cool season, a hotel with thermal pools turns the trip into a spa break instead of a beach holiday.
