Burgos is a compact Castilian city on the Arlanzón and the Camino de Santiago. Stay by the cathedral for medieval streets, by the Espolón for restaurants, or across the river for the Evolution Museum and bus station.
The old town is built around the Gothic cathedral. Fernán González climbs toward San Nicolás de Bari and the Castle viewpoint. A hotel uphill can mean a steep final walk with bags.
Arco de Santa María opens onto Paseo del Espolón, a tree-lined promenade beside the Arlanzón. Plaza Mayor is close, and the museum quarter lies a short walk east across the river.
The Museo de la Evolución Humana tells the story of the Atapuerca finds. Las Huelgas monastery is west of the center. Its streets are quieter, but most restaurants are a longer walk away.
Burgos Rosa Manzano rail station is north of the center, while the bus station is on central Calle Miranda. Confirm which one your service uses before choosing a hotel for an early departure.
