Zaragoza follows the Ebro between the Basilica del Pilar and the Aljafería Palace. Stay in the old center to walk between the cathedrals and tapas lanes. Delicias station is farther west, for rail arrivals.
The Basilica del Pilar fills the riverside edge of Plaza del Pilar, opposite the Puente de Piedra. A short walk east reaches La Seo, the city’s other cathedral, and remains of Roman Caesaraugusta. The old center is compact, but rooms close to El Tubo hear the evening crowds.
El Tubo is a cluster of narrow tapas streets south of Plaza del Pilar. Paseo de la Independencia and Plaza de España open into broader shopping streets. Tram stops along the central axis serve the university and Parque Grande.
The Aljafería Palace stands west of the historic center, and Delicias station is farther west again. Delicias handles high-speed trains and long-distance buses. A room by the station suits an early departure, but the Pilar and La Seo are a bus or taxi ride away.
The Cierzo wind makes winter walks feel colder than the thermometer says. Summer afternoons are hot and exposed, so spend midday in museums, the Aljafería or shaded streets.
