San Sebastián sits between two beaches: sheltered La Concha and surf-facing Zurriola. Book near the beach, the pintxo streets or the station you will use most.
Parte Vieja packs pintxo bars, San Telmo Museoa and lanes beneath Monte Urgull into a small area. Rooms on its busiest streets hear the bars late into the night.
Centro spreads behind La Concha, with broad shopping streets and the main rail station to the east. Walk west around the bay for Miramar Palace, Ondarreta and the Peine del Viento sculptures.
Gros lies across the Urumea, beside Zurriola beach and the Kursaal. This is the surf side of town, with surf schools and cafés. Amara, farther south, is closer to Anoeta stadium and the Euskotren station.
Summers are mild, and no month is reliably dry. Bring a light layer for the waterfront. Pick an address near your usual beach or bar street so you aren’t crossing town in the wet.

Pintxo bars cluster around Plaza de la Constitución and Calle 31 de Agosto. San Telmo Museoa and Monte Urgull start here. Expect lively streets after dark.
Around here: Plaza de la Constitución, San Telmo Museoa, Monte Urgull
The broad streets behind La Concha run past Alderdi Eder and the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. Pick Centro for the beach and railway station.
Around here: La Concha, Alderdi Eder, Catedral del Buen Pastor
Cross the Urumea for Zurriola beach, the Kursaal and surf schools. Ondarreta sits across the bay, so plan a bus ride or extra time on foot.
Around here: Zurriola, Kursaal, Puente de la Zurriola
Ondarreta, Miramar Palace and the Peine del Viento line the western bay. Antiguo is quieter at night. The Parte Vieja is at the far end of La Concha from here.
Around here: Ondarreta, Palacio de Miramar, Peine del Viento
Amara lies south of the centre near Anoeta stadium and Amara station. Stay here on match days or if you’ll use the local trains. To get to La Concha, walk or take the bus.
Around here: Estadio de Anoeta, Parque de Cristina Enea, Estación de Amara
Beach weather is best from June to September, when highs are usually in the 70s °F. Bring a jacket anyway, because showers turn up in every month.
