About Malaga

Málaga has an old center below the Alcazaba, a port and city beaches. Stay near Calle Larios for museums and trains. La Malagueta is closer to the sea. Pedregalejo has a quieter beachfront but is farther from the center.

The Alcazaba climbs above the Roman Theatre on the edge of the old town. From there, Calle Alcazabilla leads toward the cathedral and Picasso Museum. The streets around Plaza de la Merced and Calle Larios are close to the sights, and their restaurant and bar blocks can stay busy late.

Soho sits between the old center, the Guadalmedina and the port. It has murals and smaller streets, and Atarazanas market and Málaga Centro-Alameda station are close by. West of the river, the María Zambrano station area is for early trains, not old-town evenings.

From Muelle Uno, the waterfront path runs toward La Malagueta beach. Stay on this side for the sea without leaving the city. A room on the promenade can be noisy in summer. Farther east, Pedregalejo and El Palo have smaller beaches and seafood restaurants. Most central museums are a bus or taxi ride away.

Málaga Airport is west of the center. The C-1 commuter train links it with María Zambrano and Centro-Alameda, and also follows the coast toward Torremolinos and Fuengirola. Summer afternoons are hot and dry. The walk up to Gibralfaro is easier in spring and autumn.
