Salou stretches along the Costa Daurada between the broad sands of Llevant and Ponent and the smaller coves around Cap Salou. A hotel on Passeig Jaume I is steps from the sand and the restaurants. One near PortAventura is a bus ride from the sea.
Passeig Jaume I runs behind Llevant beach, with the Font Lluminosa at one end and the marina at the other. It is the easy pick for a first beach stay, but the central seafront is loud on summer evenings. Ponent beach continues west toward Cambrils and has a gentler entry to the water.
Behind the marina, the older streets around Torre Vella and Santa Maria del Mar are the part of Salou that is not resort strip. The Carles Buïgas area is closer to Capellans beach and late-night bars, so ask which street the hotel is on if quiet sleep matters.
The Camí de Ronda follows the shore past Capellans and Platja Llarga toward the coves of Cap Salou. Some stretches have steps and rocky ground. Cala dels Crancs is tucked among vegetation and is farther from the central promenade.
PortAventura World lies inland from the beachfront. A hotel near the park saves a cross-town trip on ride days. A seafront hotel is better for beach days. Salou’s former central rail station has closed, so trains now stop at Port Aventura and you will need a bus or taxi from there.
